Patient reviews at Chicago Skin Clinic
I don't often leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share it. I had a dermatology appointment scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and wasn’t seen until approximately 1:35 p.m. While I understand that medical offices can run behind schedule, what happened next was unacceptable. The dermatologist came into the room and spent what felt like no more than 90 seconds with me. He asked if I had noticed anything new, changing, or growing on my skin. When I explained that I wasn’t sure and I never had my body checked by a dermatologist and that I was there for a professional skin assessment, he briefly looked at my face, my back and the tops of my arms. He never examined the front of my body, my scalp, the backs of my legs, or the fronts of my legs. Concerned that the exam seemed incomplete, I specifically asked the assistant about the areas that had not been checked. Her response was simply, “It’s okay, all good.” That answer did not inspire confidence, especially considering those areas had never been examined. What made the experience even more frustrating was that as I left the office, I saw the dermatologist sitting in a room "playing" on his phone (seemed amused). Apparently there was time available, just not for a thorough patient examination. I scheduled this appointment expecting a professional skin cancer screening and comprehensive dermatology evaluation. Instead, I received what felt like a rushed glance that lasted less than two minutes. Now I will have to spend additional time and money to see another dermatologist and receive the thorough assessment I thought I was paying for in the first place. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and properly examined. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those expectations.
My actual visit with Dr. Danny Del Campo went well. I went in for a baseline skin check to make sure I didn't have any skin spots that could be cancerous. The actual visit only took about 5 minutes. The doctor gave me options to address some of the spots that I was concerned about and I went home with good information. The reason I gave them 3 stars is because I had to wait 45 minutes in a room to even be seen by a medical assistant. I had to go to the front desk to ask how much longer it was going to take because my meter was running out. As I passed the area where the medical assistants were I saw about 5 or 6 of them sitting there talking and I wasn't seeing until I said something. I felt it was very unprofessional that I was kept waiting for so long when there were very few patients in the office on that day. Right after I spoke I was seen quickly by a medical assistant and the doctor came in within a couple of minutes.
Highly recommend Dr. Danny Del Campo for all of your dermatology needs! I am not originally from Chicago and when I was referred to Dr. Danny I couldn’t have been more relieved. They have a seamless system down to a science like well oiled machine and their staff is extremely kind and accommodating. Not to mention my skin is now amazing! Thank you to them!
